Portrait Dr. Dale Hardy DMD

Dr. Dale Hardy is the founder of Cornerstone Dentistry, serving patients in Anderson since 1999.

IN ALMOST 30 YEARS of practicing dentistry in Anderson I’ve seen and experienced a lot of things.

People from all walks of life and experience generally have the same barriers; time, fear, and money, to different degrees. Let me share what I’ve seen and learned over the years that might help you overcome your barrier to the smile of your dreams.

1. Prevention: Nothing comes close to what you can do at home with meticulous oral hygiene, and a healthy low-sugar diet. No special toothpaste, fluoride treatment, mouth rinse, or even professional cleanings will overcome poor hygiene and prolonged sugar exposure. Unfortunately, tooth decay and gum disease are rampant in our society so partnering with a trusted dental team will help you avoid larger problems.

2. Fear and Pain: Dental anxiety is probably the biggest barrier to getting smiles restored. With modern technologies and a compassionate dental team, it is absolutely possible to overcome these huge obstacles. One of the most rewarding things I’ve seen over the years is the conversion and transformation of phobic and embarrassed patients as they get their smile back and start to enjoy their visits. Yes it’s possible!

3. Affordability: Unfortunately, cost can be the second biggest barrier. Good dentistry is not inexpensive. Mediocre dentistry you don’t trust can break you. I am absolutely convinced that you will get the most value and the best deal from a dentist you know and trust, and from a team that knows you. One filling will cost more than all the annual savings you may get from a network plan or a “bargain” dental office. “Need” in regards to dental work is often subjective and dependent on so many factors. If your dental team knows you and you trust them to treat you as they would their own family members, your care will be customized and you’ll absolutely save money. Above all things, find a dental team that you can trust to have your best interest at heart. We are fortunate to have many such dentists in Anderson. Ask around, read reviews, you’ll find them.

4. It’s never too late: Every week we hear, “well who knows how long I’m going to be around.” Do any of us know? I’ve seen patients in their 80’s get their teeth straightened and smiles restored, and they’re always so glad they did. Having a healthy, comfortable, and functional dentition in the “golden” years is invaluable. If you think it’s too late, let me tell you that it’s not.

5. The value of a smile: How much is a confident, attractive smile worth? It’s different for everyone, but I can tell you of so many people that I’ve seen get their smile back that ended up with new jobs, new relationships, and new outlooks on life. Caring for Anderson families for almost thirty years has been deeply rewarding because I’ve experienced these transformations over and over. I hope this can give you direction to find a dental team you trust and to pursue the smile of your dreams.
